My First Sign of Spring

Okay, this isn't very spring like but it looked kind of neat just slowly sinking into the snow. Which of course it is difficult to see from this picture.

Look carefully towards the top of the photo and you will see a skunk cabbage flower.
Here is a closer up view.

I took this one just so you could see the snow and didn't think I was slipping in a picture from last spring.

Gus and I went for a walk at the Conservancy down the road and boy did I wish I had snow shoes. I certainly didn't add that many steps to my pedometer but I expended a LOT of energy slugging through the heavy wet snow. I also discovered my boots need to be waterproofed again. It will most likely take the rest of the evening to regain feeling in my toes!
