Past month's ups and downs

In the past month, a lot has happened in my life. As already posted by others, I swam in a Masters meet and went lifetime best times. Other exciting things that were already posted included the wonderful visit by Grandma and Grandpa.

That was all in the first half of the past month. Since then, Dana has completed her degree in anthropology at Berkeley and is awaiting graduation May 21st. Her and I also both received stitches recently.

I managed to smash my finger underneath a 300 pound TV. My dad and I were carrying it when it started to slip in my fingers and I instinctively tried to recover and lower the TV, went down way faster than I was hoping and crushed the tip of my finger between it and the driveway. Nothing was broken but I ripped my nail up from the root. This resulted in the ER doctor sewing my nail back in place (3 stitches) since apparently if he didn't, I wouldn't regrown the nail (scar tissue prevents the regrown so the old nail is in place keeping the "fold" open for the new nail).

Seven days later, to the hour, Dana put one of the sharp objects I have in our display case into her calf. She was sitting on our floor, opening a taped box. She asked me to grab scissors from the other room. She was right in front of our display case where I keep my collection of swords, daggers, and knives, so I told her to just grab the WWII Nazi Air Force Commander's dagger. She slit the first piece of tape and went on to the second one, which was unexpectedly less resistant and the tip of the dagger went into her calf. It looked about half an inch deep but there was hardly any bleeding (Dana was real quick to apply pressure and elevate). We rushed off to the same hospital I visited the week before and was greeted by the same nurse who helped me! She got 4 stitches, just to out do me.

From the hospital Dana and I continued onto my parents' house for Mother's Day. My dad, David, Dana and I all cooked dinner for our mom and had a pleasant evening. We are all recovering well.

Sounds like you guys might take over my title as "Own Worst Enemy"!

Glad you are recovering well.
